Together For Children Fostering Sunderland is an independent fostering agency that provides foster care for children and young people who cannot live with their parents.

What is a foster carer?
Foster carers take someone else's child into their home and look after them until they are able to return to their own family or are ready to move on.

There's no such thing as a typical foster carer - they come from all walks of life and all sorts of backgrounds. We welcome applications from all demographics, however you must have room in your home to accommodate a child.

Will I get paid?

You will receive a fostering allowance, which is to cover the cost of caring for the child. A range of fostering allowances is paid to meet the needs of individual children.

In addition there is a foster carer fee scheme which recognises and rewards commitment to continuous professional development.

There are several different types of fostering available in Sunderland, including anything from providing a few days to a few years of care.

How can I find out more?

For more information come along to one of our fostering information evenings in 2017 – they’re held once a month on a Tuesday. All take place at Bede Tower (Burdon Rd, Sunderland SR2 7DZ), from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. There's no need to book, just come along.
