From Autumn 2023 childcare providers will be required to complete a Better Start Attendance Task once every half term via the Provider Portal.
We know that non-attendance is early indicator of child welfare issues and can have a significant impact on a child's life chances.
Attendance is currently monitored for early years provision in schools so we are now rolling out this new attendance capture tool for funded placements in childcare provision.
The intention behind capturing non- attendance data is to identify children and families in need of additional support. This will help to inform our support services to ensure that children in our city get the best start in life where possible.
