Together for equity, diversity and inclusion

We promote fair and inclusive practices across our workforce, championed by our network of Fair Treatment Ambassadors and EDI Network Leads, and accountable to our TfC Equity and Inclusiveness Board; chaired by our very own Chief Executive. We encourage a sense of belonging for every single member of the workforce and actively promote an EDI calendar of events throughout the year. EDI and Unconscious Bias Training is mandatory for all.
In our latest Staff Engagement Survey, the workforce described TfC as 'Supportive, kind and inclusive'.
We understand the need for colleagues to have safe and protected conversations with the support of allies and to have the freedom, understanding and respect to express their social, cultural, and racial perspective.
At TfC we also have an Armed Forces Covenant Network who regularly meet and is open to families of those serving in the armed forces as well as veterans. Our TfC Menopause Matters Network also offer advice and guidance for team members and managers.
As well as shaping Company policy, TfC EDI Networks have driven changes such as the TfC Employee Disability Passport, the TfC Menopause Policy, the redesign of the Personal Supervision template and have contributed to Company wide celebrations such as PRIDE, Black History Month and Disability Awareness Month.
We are proud to continue our mission to make TfC the best possible, inclusive, and fair place to work with the appointment of our recent EDI Lead.
Fostering Friendly Employer

Together for Children have a fostering friendly People policy for all foster carers in their employment (regardless of their fostering service). This includes offering foster carers flexible working and paid time off for training and settling a new child into their home.
As a Fostering Friendly Employer, Together for Children also help promote Foster Care Fortnight, the annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and encourage people to consider becoming foster carers and offer children the care they need.
At TfC we lead the regional fostering hub - Foster with North East - a collaboration between 12 local authorities in the region to recruit and train prospective carers. Find out more at Foster with North East - Foster with North East.
