Overall winner 2025

On a night filled with inspiration and celebration, the overall winner of the Sunderland Young Achievers' Awards 2025 was announced. The prestigious moment was graced by The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Sunderland, Councillor Allison Chisnall, who was joined on stage by Molly Mackings, last year's overall winner and recipient of the 2024 Young Carer Award.

As the audience listened to the remarkable achievements of the winners and Highly Commended nominees, it became clear just how challenging it was for the judges to select one overall winner. After careful deliberation, numerous discussions, and, a few tears, the decision was made.

The judges described the winner as someone who not only excels in their category but also makes a significant impact in their community, both at home and at school. Despite facing numerous challenges, their resilience, determination, and spirit truly shone through in their nomination.

We are delighted to announce that the very deserving winner of the 2025 Sunderland Young Achievers' Award was Leon O'Connor Ahmadi who also took home our Achievement in Learning Award Award.
