Our Family Centres mark National Children's Day 2021

National Children's Day UK is all about the importance of a healthy childhood, and how we need to protect the rights and freedoms of children in order to ensure that they can grow into happy, healthy adults.

Together for Children offers a variety of activities and services that encourage child development at our Family Centres and other venues across Sunderland.

We currently have five Family Centres across Sunderland that provide multiple support services for local families with children aged 0 to 18.

Family Centres are a place that young children aged 0 to 5 can make friends and learn as they play, with a variety of free and fun classes from messy play to time for rhyme, all of which support child development.

Early Help workers can also be found within Family Centres and are available to support parents and carers with any concerns they may have with their children, family or home circumstances. These might include behaviour, problems at school, housing, debt, routines and boundaries or other difficulties.

Due to the current covid-19 guidelines, our Family Centres will be supporting National Children's Day by inviting families participate in online videos celebrating the voice of the child that will shared on the Sunderland Family Centres Facebook page. A variety of other videos can also be found on the Facebook page that parents can try themselves at home to encourage their child's development.

While our Family Centres have been preparing to re-open our doors and invite children and parents back to our one-to-one sessions, we have spent some time re-vamping our Family Centres in readiness for re-opening to the public.

Please contact your nearest Family Centre to find out more or visit our Family Centres Facebook page.
