Concessionary Bus Pass
What?
Individuals who are eligible for SEND Transport may be eligible for a Concessionary Bus Pass. The pass provides free travel on public transport within Tyne and Wear from 9.30am Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on public holidays.

How?
Parent/Carers should contact Sunderland Blue Badge Department on 0191 520 5552. They will need to ask for an eligibility form for a concessionary travel pass.
How the Blue Badge Dept will decide if your child is eligible by asking questions on the following:
• If your child has 8 points or more for mobility and receives D.L.A or PIP.
• Your child has a sight impairment.
• Your child has mobility problems.
• Your child has EHCP [Education Health and Care Plan].
• Your child has SEND or attends an SEND school or provision.
You will then need to apply for the bus pass on the Nexus website by completing a concessionary travel form. You will need to upload the following as part of the application process:
• A clear headshot of your child.
• Proof of address of such as a bill or statement.
• Proof from your child's school/college of hours they attend.
• The completed eligibility form.
