Free Travel Permit
What?
The Permit allows the young person to travel to and from school on local public transport (Metro/bus/ferry), within Tyne and Wear, free of charge, any time before 7pm. The Permit can only be used on school days.

Who can apply?
Young people who are of statutory school age (5-16yrs) and reside within the Sunderland boundary.
• A young person must live over 2 miles from their nearest school (Primary age) or 3 miles from their nearest school (secondary age)
• A young person must live over 2 miles from one of their three nearest secondary schools, and be eligible for free school meals
• A young person must be attending a faith school, on grounds of religion/belief, live over 2 miles from the school and be eligible for free school meals
